Snowflake Challenge 2023, Day 8

So, my biggest one is my continuing Fire Emblem 4 Genealogy of the Holy War Let's Play!!! It's posted to Ao3, and after every chapter I summarise what happened to the characters and any thoughts I had about it! snowflake_challenge finishes, I'm gonna get on to the next one!!
Honestly, I am a bit surprised I've kept it up this long, given what a huge thing it is! Especially since for a long time I was pretty much just posting out into the ether with no response! But last year I actually did get a couple of comments on it - and long ones, too!! - which made me unbelievably happy :DDD Unfortunately it has been a while since I last updated again due to lots of life stuff last year... But like I said, I hope to get back to it soon!!
I also have my goal of collecting every Kanzaki Souma card in Ensemble Stars, as I talked about here!! It's soooo close to being complete, that at this point I'm just sorta waiting until I am Mentally and Emotionally Ready to see that album all entirely filled out... <3
Souma features in another project that I really should get back to, haha: when I visited Japan last year, I found a whooooole bunch of Souma and Kanata badges for my favourite event, and since in Japan itabags largely feature the same badge over and over, I decided to put together another bag just for them! Stupidly I didn't buy as many as I'd need to totally fill out the bag haha which means it'll be a lot more expensive just in terms of shipping, but it'll be so rewarding to see my favourite ship/characters/event put together like that~~ I just need to actually buy the bag I'll use for it, and start tracking down the last couple of copies of these two badges I need...
Finally... I actually don't have too much planned regarding fanfic right now!! I'm in more of a reading phase than a writing one at present...? (doing both at the same time gets weird 'cause I can't read other fics without mentally thinking about how I'd write this myself or how I should be working on my own fics instead of just passively consuming...)
BUT, I did start a challenge last year to do a full bingo of drabbles forincestbingo!! This was actually kind of a big deal for me since I've always enjoyed stories about incest since I was a kid, but when anti-shipping discourse became big on tumblr I got really guilty about it and tried to stop... (ofc I still did ship incest, just secretly.) But I'm in a better mental place now and I'm trying to own my own values and beliefs, which includes not doing something that is interesting and fulfilling and meaningful to me just because of external condemnation! (Though the practical consequences are still real so I have made a 'secret' AO3 account to put my more controversial stuff, hahaha;;;) So I did make some progress through that last year, and it was super fun revisiting a lot of ships I hadn't thought about in a while, though it got put on hold so I could participate in Kinktober! Now, I'd like to go back and fully finish it off! :)
There are definitely other stuff I'd like to continue or start or whatever (like icon-making, and even dipping my toes into some more fanart once I can get the tablet thingy working properly), but those are the specific projects I'm really actively thinking about right now! :)

It's so hard when you're doing that, so kudos to you that you kept on going, and then started to get the comments. That's wonderful.

That is so great and such a good mindset to have, and yet, I can understand the issues to get to that point. My past main fandom was bandom which also had incest pairings, so I'm well aware of the negativity that can be thrown around.

Date: 2024-02-04 06:33 am (UTC)And thank you so much - I'm honestly so grateful to have these spaces on dreamwidth to talk abut it, because I'm still really reluctant to bring anything up openly on tumblr haha;; Even reddit is getting increasingly incest-negative, even in the Fire Emblem subreddits, which is... kind of astonishing but also just really sad. :( But I'm not getting sucked in to self-doubt and rumination like I used to, and that's really such a hugely important step! <3
