22degreehaloI already posted this table before, but that was to squee over it and share my thoughts, so I thought it was appropriate to create a separate post to link my completed fics!
I also thought it'd be kinda nice to write a little bit about how each fic fits their prompt! It should be pretty straightforward in most cases but it's still fun to reflect a little!
Power Dynamics: 'In Your Hands' (Ensemble Stars, Souma+Keito gen, 5.7k)
So, 'In Your Hands' for Power Dynamics. Hoo boy - as soon as I saw that prompt, my mind immediately went to Souma and Keito! I had them written down as a ship in my notes, but I really do prefer them platonic, and primarily because of the unequal power differentials at work in their relationship. This fic was borne out of me wondering about their relationship early in Souma first year, but while it started out pretty light and only latently angsty, I couldn't resist the urge to draw in all of the broader War context as well, and with it came even more power dynamics to tease at! Eichi's power over Keito and the school as a whole, Kunugi's power over Keito, Kanata's power over Souma and his referenced followers... all of these relationships in canon are really fascinating and it was really fun and interesting to sort of touch on how they intersect with the Keito+Souma relationship over these brief scenes!
Perspective Flip: 'Beloved Shizuka' (Ensemble Stars, Kanata/Souma, 4.2k)
For this one, as soon as I saw the square 'Perspective Flip' I knew I wanted to try writing some Outsider POV! (Which I feel is enough of a 'flip' - shippy fic is understandably usually written from the POV of one of the characters, so telling the story via someone else is definitely a flip of those norms and allows a very different view of it!) I really love the way outsider POV allows you to look at characters in a very different way, but also reflect on the POV character themselves? It really enhances the relationship between all three (or more!) of them! There's also some more layers of perspective flipping going on here: we're seeing pre-canon, and then we're also getting a continuation of a canon scene, so we're seeing something new with familiar characters and THEN we're seeing a familiar scene twisted in a new way! And in-universe, Souma gets a different perspective on his God, Kanata gets a different perspective on other children, and the red cord Souma wears is put into a new light for both Kanata and the audience! There are all kinds of different perspectives going on here~~
